Why Do Managers Plan Free Essays
string(61) added what exactly is normally alluded to as a ââ¬Å"pick-listâ⬠. For what reason do Managers Plan 1 Why do Managers Plan? The executives 301 Distance Learning December 07, 2011 Why do Managers Plan 2 Why do Managers Plan? Key Planning This appears to be an exceptionally straightforward point to examine, yet there is no single explanation that an administrator makes arrangements in the workplace. I will cover a few regions where administrators use arranging, and why it is a fundamental piece of achieving errands, and how it smoothes out procedures essential for an association to be fruitful. To begin with, I will examine key arranging: key arranging can likewise be alluded to as ââ¬Å"charting the courseâ⬠for a business or association. We will compose a custom article test on For what reason Do Managers Plan? or then again any comparative theme just for you Request Now A focal piece of vital administration is execution estimation (Public Administration Review, December 2010). Not at all like private division business associations, numerous administration and open organizations have created execution estimations without creating vital plans. I believe this is principally because of the framework that is set up in most government or open offices, and the measure of formality that goes with government ran organizations. As to private division, I accept that having a key intend to manage supervisors and pioneers in the dynamic procedure permits them to recognize elective advances or measures to take if something in the business procedure changes that they have no immediate command over. Directors who build up a vital arrangement additionally are probably going to perceive that the final product can't be their solitary concern, yet they recognize achievements that must be met along the ay, or during the procedure to use as an estimation device to decide whether they are gaining positive ground or in the event that they have to analyze ââ¬Å"glitchesâ⬠that will defer or negatively affect the business procedure. One apparatus to quantify execution is a ââ¬Å"Balanced Scorecardâ⬠. It is grounded in the possibility that the estimation Why do Managers Plan 3 of an organizationââ¬â¢s execution should consider the procedures and assets expected to create results, just as the results themselve s. Here and there, its accentuation on data sources and yields is a stage back in execution estimation, yet that progression is intended to assist associations with satisfying the outcomes guaranteed. (Open Administration Review, December 2010). I accept this is a fundamental advance, if not the initial phase in arranging that will help guarantee a business or association has a set way that will improve their potential outcomes of accomplishment. Information Management in Organizational Planning is the following zone that I need to talk about. At the point when individuals talk about directors making arrangements for activities or procedures in a business or association all things considered, they are alluding to plans that incorporate gauges. This sort of arranging is suitable if the eventual fate of or in the business condition is steady; nonetheless, this isn't generally the situation with numerous organizations since they face business situations that are intricate and precarious (Knowledge Management in Organizational Planning, January 1987). With this being the situation in many business conditions today, the authority of these organizations keep on pursueing arranging and estimating devices and innovation that will help them when they are creating vital and hierarchical plans. Information the executives may likewise be alluded to as Management Information Systems (MIS). This is a PC program or system that was produced for the board and initiative individuals to use for the reasons for arranging and may have instances of past arranging occasions or tasks that the current supervisors can use to help them in the arranging and dynamic procedure. One noteworthy bit of leeway of this kind of framework is that it can give chronicled information that permits great intending to be done from the earliest starting point, and this may improve the likelihood of achievement of a task or creation process Why do Managers Plan 4 dependent on the past exercises discovered that are thought about when building up the current arrangement. The MIS was created to help supervisors in social occasion data, producing thoughts and choices and furthermore for examining this data and looking over among the contending options. This MIS is simply one more apparatus to accentuate why chiefs plan. Another territory that arranging is significant for chiefs is multi-venture arranging and asset control. This zone is likewise identified with the territory of big business asset arranging (ERP). Both of these regions require the utilization of business arranging devices to make the managerââ¬â¢s employment of making arrangements for required materials and assets a lot simpler to oversee using innovation and PC programs. One of the most testing parts of a managerââ¬â¢s work is to guarantee that he/she successfully oversees undertakings or creation forms without depleting the organizationââ¬â¢s restricted assets (Multiproject Planning and Resource Controls, December 2006). At the point when we discuss chiefs, I think understand that administrators are in all enterprises including retail, creation, assembling, and development to give some examples, and the one regular connection that they all offer is arranging. Arranging is the bedrock or establishment that directors must build up as a beginning stage regardless of the business which they work. The significant pieces of arranging that are identified with multi-task and ERP the executives are distinguishing the assets expected to begin and support work procedures to dispose of misfortune time because of a deficiency of assets, and how the ERP framework cooperates with other inner business frameworks to upgrade the arranging of the executives. A case of this could be that the ERP framework interfaces the support extends that are in effect effectively worked with the flexibly or demanding procedure to guarantee that required assets, for example, materials and instruments are being requested to meet the undertaking or occupation prerequisites. The ERP framework Why do Managers Plan 5 can be customized to perceived or distinguish things required dependent on work number or sequential numbers identified with explicit parts of the activity that were recognized during the underlying arranging period of the activity or task. The things that would be requested because of this arranging would be added what exactly is usually alluded to as a ââ¬Å"pick-listâ⬠. You read For what reason Do Managers Plan? in classification Papers This piece of the ERP framework is known as the connection among structure and human activity and is known as the ââ¬Å"duality of structure, which essentially implies (for this situation) the association between the ERP framework (for the most part oversaw by a materials chief), the requesting of assets (between materials supervisor and merchants), and correspondence between the venture or creation director and the framework (real contribution to the framework) (business profits by ERP frameworks, Staehr, 2008). The ERP frameworks capacity to distinguish this procedure in just conceivable because of the underlying arranging that was performed by the chief accountable for the undertakings or forms, and imparted and arranged with the materials administrator to guarantee the framework was interfaced to the procedures. I have really utilized an ERP framework called SAP, and these sorts of frameworks require a ton of preparing and ââ¬Å"hands onâ⬠work since they can be unpredictable to utilize. Another critical and significant arranging instrument that chiefs can utilize is the Production Planning Model. This PPM may likewise be alluded to as Material Requirement Planning (MRP). The MRP is an imperative instrument for directors who function as support administrators, creation chiefs, or activities supervisors. Directors utilize the MRP to distinguish the measure of extra parts that should be either ââ¬Å"on handâ⬠or immediately acquired to guarantee there is constrained or no hardware down-time because of the absence of parts to make required fixes for process gear. It is significant that directors who work in these sorts of conditions are the procedure supervisor, yet the arranging chief. I cause the Why to do Managers Plan 6 past proclamation in light of the fact that the chief who builds up the operational or procedure plans should utilize the types of gear authentic information to distinguish operational and down-time patterns. They ought to likewise utilize Bills of Materials (BOMs) to recognize parts that will be bound to flop because of the measure of utilization, or are increasingly helpless to wear from nonstop use in the activity or procedure. This subject is imperative to examine on the grounds that numerous plants or offices may have the ability to produce parts in their own machine shops, and this can be a cost investment funds measure just as an efficient measure. This is the reason it is significant that the arranging director distinguish this as a chance or an inclination during the arranging period of the activity to be performed. Utilizing MRP enables fabricates and directors to decide correctly when and how much material to buy and procedure dependent on a period staged examination of deals orders, creation orders, current stock, and gauges (Production arranging model, April 2009). MRP decides material necessities dependent on ace creation and arranging plans which are utilized related to each other to guarantee a proficient work process. An essential explanation that supervisors utilize the creation arranging model is to lessen the degrees of parts or merchandise close by. At the end of the day, if appropriate arranging is performed preceding beginning the activity or creation process the administrator will have the option to decide the parts required/required from start to fruition of the procedure and spare stock expenses by just having the necessary parts available with no abundance. When it is resolved how much item will be delivered it makes it a lot simpler to decide the measure of parts or extra parts that will be required. At the point when supervisors are anticipating a creation run it is significant for them to know about an

The utilization of the word ââ¬Ëmilkââ¬â¢ is firmly connected with babies and the shading white, the two images for guiltlessness and virtue. Note that Lady Macbeth considers Macbeth being guiltless and unadulterated, considering his adjustment in nature further on in the play, to a great extent identified with Lady Macbeth tying her desire with his to protect her brutality and absence of immaculateness over forces his. By doing so Macbeths aspiration for power removes his humankind, leaving power crazed dictator. Another bit of proof to help that desire is Macbeths deadly defect is that he concedes and anticipates is own destruction brought about by his aspiration, ââ¬Å"I have no spike/To prick the sides of my expectation, yet just/Vaulting aspiration, which oââ¬â¢erleaps itself/And falls on the otherâ⬠. Listening Pathways Bahni Turpin Audiobooks Audiobooks
Listening Pathways Bahni Turpin Audiobooks Audiobooks Bahni Turpin is an American actor and audiobook narrator. She has narrated over a hundred audiobooks, earning her a place in the Audible Hall of Fame and numerous Audie awards. She was recently named a Golden Voice by AudioFile for her exemplary and prolific career as an audiobook narrator. Shes likely best known for her incredible performance of The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, which won her an Audie award in 2018. While I can attest to the the brilliance of her narration in that book, its just the tip of the iceberg. Shes brilliant no matter what, whether shes narrating YA romance (The Stars and the Blackness Between Them by Junauda Petrus, The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon), a classic of the Harlem Renaissance (Cane by Jean Toomer), or literary fiction (Here Comes the Sun by Nicole Dennis-Benn). If you listen to a lot of audiobooks, you know how useful it is to have a few must-listen narrators in your back pocket. Bahni Turpin is definitely a must-listen for me. If I see her name on an audiobook, I know its going to be an outstanding performance. Ive been known to pick up a book just because she narrates it, and I havent been disappointed yet. If you havent listened to any Bahni Turpin audiobooks and are wondering where to start (there are so many!) use this listening pathway as a guide. Ive highlighted some of my favorites, representing a wide array of genres and styles. These books will give you a good introduction to Turpins talents as a narrator. But I guarantee that you wont want to stop here. Luckily, you dont have to. Start With An Unputdownable YA Novel On the Come Up by Angie Thomas I loved The Hate U Give, but this one really blew me away. Sixteen-year-old Bri just wants to be a rapper, but shes got a lot on her plate, like the fact that her family is suddenly facing homelessness, as well as all the everyday terrors and injustices that pile on top of her as a black teenage girl in America. Theres a reason this book makes such a great introduction to Turpins workâ"its a book that centers language. Hip-hop is absolutely central, not just to the plot but to Bris identity, her history, her growth. Its a book that was written to be read out loud. Turpin beautifully inhabits teenage Bri, and, as always, nails every other character voice as well. But its her ability to make you really hear, and thus really feel, Bris rhymes, that make this audiobook so extraordinary. Theres a lot of rapping in this novel, and Turpin uses her voice to put it all on the line. All of Bris talent, anger, joy, frustration, energy, and exhaustion comes through loud and clear. Next, Listen To A Brilliant Work Of Historical Fiction The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead If youve already read this Pulitzer prizeâ"winning novel, in which Whitehead brilliantly imagines the Underground Railroad as an actual, physical railroad, thats okayâ"you can read it again on audio. I promise you wont be sad. Following the journey of Cora as she runs from slavery, this book is a painful read. What Bahni Turpin does is nothing short of astounding. Not only does she inhabit the many accents and dialects of a wide-ranging cast of characters, but somehow, in her voice, she carries the beating heart of the story. This is a book that is hard to read, but that is worth sinking intoâ"its a book that demands the reader linger, even when lingering is exactly what the reader doesnt want to do. Turpins narration makes that lingering possible. Her voice is so alive and present. She captures the complexity of Coras emotions, making her voice a constant anchor in a story that travels hundreds of miles across hundreds of terrors. Bonus: If you loved The Underground Railroad, I highly recommend Dread Nation by Justina Ireland. Its a YA novel that takes place in a Civil Warâ"era America overrun with zombies. Bahni Turpin rocks the narration out of this world. Then Take A Dive Into Some Nonfiction So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo This is a fantastic, beautifully clear, and accessible book that tackles big questions about systemic racism in America and about how to talk about systemic racism. But I include it here because its also an example of how much great narration can add to an already excellent book. Part of what makes this book so good is its directness. Oluo breaks various issues down into pieces that dont feel overwhelming, but she doesnt simplify. Turpin perfectly captures that particular style in her narration. Its inviting, its personal, its engagingâ"but shes also got this clear, no-bullshit tone that makes you want to sit up and pay attention. If you, like me, find it hard to get through nonfiction in print, this book is for you. And if youre hesitant to listen to nonfiction on audio, Id recommend this one anywayâ"its so accessible. Turpin breathes life into the more academic sections (which are already fantastic) and adds another layer of emotion to the personal stories and histories that Oluo recounts. Bonus: If you want to take an even deeper dive into feminist nonfiction, I also recommend Nasty Women by Samhita Mukhopadhyay and The Source of Self Regard by Toni Morrison. Morrison needs no introduction, but it takes a mighty fine narrator to tackle the work of such a literary giant, and Turpin is up to the task. Nasty Women is a collection of essays by a diverse group of women writers on living and fighting in Trump-era America. Turpin brings her usual talents to the audiobook, making these already excellent essays come to life. Finish With A Classic If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin Its always a win-win when a great narrator narrates a classic: if youve never read the book, its a fantastic way to encounter it for the first time. If youve already read it, listening to it on audio is a great way to experience it again. In this novel, Turpin gives life to 19-year old Tish, a young black woman living in New York City in the 1970s. Her boyfriend, Fonny, is imprisoned after being falsely accused of a crime he didnt commit. Tish has just found out shes pregnant, and the book focuses on her family and Fonnys as they try to navigate a deeply racist justice system. Turpins straightforward narration perfectly captures the tone of the novel. Its a painful, heartbreaking book, but a quiet one. Baldwin doesnt hit you over the head with anything. He just illuminates the truths of these characters living their lives in a world that continually tries to erase and imprison them. Turpin beautifully modulates her voice to reflect everything that Tish feelsâ"her pain, fear, and exh austion, but also her love for Fonny and her family, her determination, her hope. Looking for more Bahni Turpin audiobooks? Shes featured on these three lists of awesome narrators (because shes awesome). Sign up for Audiobooks to receive the latest from the audiobooks world. Measuring Test The Stationary Of Data Essay - 1787 Words
Chapter 4 Results 4.1 Test the stationary of data In order to avoid spurious regression, we use ADF test to examine whether the individual economic variables in the model is stationary or not. The original order ADF test was done on the growth of consumer price index (CPI). And the result shows that the P value is 0.031, which is smaller than 0.05, so we reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis that CPI growth i.e. Inflation has no unit root. Table 2: ADF test for output gap Next, text the stationary of money supply growth. The results show that the p value of money supply growth ADF test is also equal to zero, which is same as that of output gap, so we reject null hypothesis and confirm that the data of money supply growth is stationary. Comparison of financial performance and position of the two target firms Financial Strengths and Weakness of the firms from various perspectives Ratio Analysis Profitability Analysis Profitability Ratios Ratios/Company Name Caring Pharmacy Nestle Group Years 2016 2017 2016 2017 Gross Profit Ratio 17.47% 23.30% 50.60% 49.97% Net Profit Ratio 1.86% 4.17% 9.54% 8.00% Return on Assets 3.87% 6.85% 6.47% 5.51% return on Equity 6.86% 12.39% 13.21% 11.68% Profitability analysis is carried out for determining the amount of profits generated from both the potential companies to be acquired. The profitability analysis of both the companies sis carried out through the use of the following ratios: Gross Profit Ratio: It depicts the relation between the gross profit and total net sale revenue and thus provides an analysis into the operational performance of the companies. It is calculated as follows: Gross Profit Ratio=Gross Profit/Net Sales (Brealey, Myers and Marcus, 2007) It can be stated from the calculation of gross profit ratio of both the companies that Caring Pharmacy gross profit has increased from the year 2016 to 2017 but has been declined for Nestle Group. Net Profit Ratio: It depicts the profitability position of a company after meeting all the operational expenses and is calculated as follows: Net Profit Ratio=Net Profit after tax/Net Sales The net profit ratio of Caring Pharmacy has increased from 1.86% to 4.17% between the financial years 2016-2017 but for nestle it has shown a decreasing trend from 9.54% to 8% for the same time period (Annual Report 2017: Nestle Group). Return on assets (ROA): The ratio provides an analysis of the efficiency of the company to realize profits from utilization of its assets and is calculated as follows: Return on Assets=Net Income/Total Assets The ROA ratio Caring Pharmacy has shown a positive trend from the financial year 2016 to 2017 from 3.87% to 6.85% and for Nestle has depicted a declining position from 6.47% to 5.51% for the same financial years. Return on Equity (ROE): It measures the ability of a corporation to generate profit from the money invested by shareholders. Therefore, it can be said from the profitability analysis of both the companies that the financial strength of Caring Pharmacy is its good profitability position while the financial weakness of Nestle is its declining profits (Annual Report 2017, Caring Pharmacy). Liquidity Analysis Liquidity Ratios Ratios/Company Name Caring Pharmacy Nestle Group Years 2016 2017 2016 2017 Current Ratio 2.08 2.01 0.85 0.89 Quick Ratio or Acid Test Ratio 1.03 1.13 0.63 0.64 Working Capital Ratio 94236.00 102241.00 -5475.00 -3864.00 The liquidity analysis helps in predicting the ability of a company to meet its financial obligations. The following ratios are calculated for assessing the liquidity position of both the companies: Current Ratio: It provides a measure of the ability of a company to meet its liabilities with its assets and thus provides an estimate of its financial position. The ratio can be calculated through the use of the following formula: Current Ratio=Current Assets/Current Debts The current ratio for Caring Pharmacy has decreased somewhat from the year 2016 to 2017 but for Nestle Group has shown a positive growth (Annual Report 2017: Nestle Group). Quick Ratio: The ratio provides a measure of the ability of a company to meet its short-term liabilities and the formula used for its calculation is as follows: Quick Ratio= (Current Assets-Inventories)/Current Liabilities (Brigham and Michael, 2013) The quick ratio of both the companies is showing positive growth from the financial year 2016 to 2017. Working Capital Ratio: This liquidity ratio assesses the comparison of the current assets of a company in relation to the current liabilities and is calculated through the following formula: Working Capital ratio=Current Assets-Current Liabilities The working capital ratio for Caring Pharmacy has increased from the financial year 2016 to 2017 but the working capital position of nestle is not good as it is having negative working capital (Annual Report 2017: Nestle Group). It can be stated from the liquidity analysis that Nestle financially weakness is its negative working capital and that is it is not able to meet effectively its current assets from current liabilities. However, the financial strength of Caring Pharmacy is its positive working capital that means it is having good liquidity position in comparison to Nestle (Annual Report 2017: Nestle Group). Asset Management Efficiency Ratios/Turnover Analysis Asset Management Efficiency Ratios/Turnover Ratios Ratios/Company Name Caring Pharmacy Nestle Group Years 2016 2017 2016 2017 Inventory Turnover Ratio 5.04 4.52 10.65 9.91 Receivables Turnover Ratio 473.21 557.57 8.93 7.23 Total Asset Turnover Ratio 2.08 1.64 0.68 0.69 The asset management efficiency ratios are used for analyzing whether the companies are using their assets effectively for generating sales. It is analyzed through calculation of the following ratios: Asset Turnover Ratio: It is an efficiency ratio used for measuring the ability of a company to generate sale from the assets and is calculated through the use of following formula: Asset Turnover Ratio=Net Sales/Average Total Assets The asset turnover ratio of Caring Pharmacy has decreased from the financial year 2017 to 2016 but for Nestle group has been increased (Annual Report 2017, Caring Pharmacy). Inventory Turnover Ratio: It measures the efficiency of a company to replace its inventory and is calculated through the use of following formulae: Inventory Turnover Ratio=Sales/Average Inventory The inventory turnover ratio for both the companies has decreased from the financial year 2017 to 2016. Receivables Turnover Ratio=It is an activity ratio used for measuring the efficiency of a company to use its assets and is calculated through the following formulae: Receivable Turnover Ratio=Net Value of Credit Sales/Average Accounts Receivable The receivables turnover ratio for Caring Pharmacy has increased from the financial year 2016 to 2017 but has been decreased for Nestle for the same period. Thus, it can be said from the analysis of the asset management efficiency ratios that the financial strength of Caring Pharmacy is its higher efficiency in collecting the accounts receivables in comparison to Nestle. However, its financial weakness is that it is not able to utilize effectively its assets to generate sales in comparison to nestle. Also, the financial weakness of both the companies is their less capability to replace inventory that can increase their operational cost and decline profitability. Long Term Financing and investment decisions of target firms Every company depends upon two main type of financing source, debt and equity. Debt capital refers to those financing capitals that bears fixed charge on the profits of company and have to be paid at regular interval while equity capital refers to owners capital which is financed through issues of common equity shares. In order to evaluate the long term financing and investment decision it is important to look after the debt equity ratio, debt to total asset ratio and interest coverage ratio for both the firms for last two years. Long Term Financing Decisions Ratios/Company Name Caring Pharmacy Nestle Group Years 2016 2017 2016 2017 Debt equity ratio 0.60 0.65 0.17 0.26 Debt to total asset ratio 0.34 0.36 0.08 0.12 Interest coverage ratio 67.12 176.62 17.53 13.31 (Annual Report 2017: Nestle Group) and (Annual Report 2017, Caring Pharmacy) Debt-Equity Ratio: The ratio is used for measuring the proportion of debt and equity used by a company for financing its assets. The debt-equity ratio is calculated through the formula as follows: Debt-Equity Ratio=Debt/Equity The debt-equity ratio of both the companies is increasing and therefore it can be said that they are using larger proportion of debt in comparison to equity for financing their assets. Debt to total asset ratio: The ratio is used for assessing the proportion of debt used by the company in comparison to the total assets. The debt to total asset ratio has increased from 2016 to 2017 for both Caring Pharmacy and Nestle. Therefore, it can be said that both the companies are adopting high use of financial leverage in financing their assets. Interest Coverage Ratio: The interest coverage ratio is used for determining whether a company can easily meet their expenses on outstanding debt. It is calculated through the use of formula: Interest Coverage Ratio=EBIT/Interest Expenses The interest coverage ratio of Caring Pharmacy has increased from the financial year 2017 to 2016 whereas for Nestle has decreased significantly. Therefore, it can be said that Nestle is not able to meet its interest expenses on outstanding debt appropriately whereas Caring Pharmacy ability to meet interest obligations is appropriate. This is largely due to larger amount of debt used by the company for funding the opening of its new assets such as KIT KAT Chocolatory. Therefore, the presence of high debt on Nestle has caused a significant increased in its interest expenses to which the company has faced somewhat difficulty in meeting up appropriately at present. Distribution Decisions made of the target firms As both the firms belong to different industry and different target market, therefore there can huge differences between the distribution decisions of both firms. In order to evaluate the distribution decision it is important analyse the earning per share, dividend per share, payout ratio and other corporate exercises followed by both the companies. Following is the information of all the required data we need to make analyse: Distribution Decisions Ratios/Company Name Caring Pharmacy Nestle Group Years 2016 2017 2016 2017 Earnings Per share 0.03 0.06 2.75 2.32 Dividend Per share 0.02 0.01 2.23 2.29 Payout Ratio 60.60% 28.40% 79.80% 76.40% (Annual Report 2017: Nestle Group) and (Annual Report 2017, Caring Pharmacy) Earnings per Share: The EPS ratio ensures the amount of earning generated by a company in relation to the money invested by shareholders and therefore it can be said that Caring Pharmacy is generating more revue for its shareholders in comparison to Nestle. Dividend per Share: It provides an assessment of dividend paid out to shareholders by a company for it outstanding shares. The dividend per share ratio of Nestle has increased from 2016 to 2017 but for Caring Pharmacy has decreased for the same period. Therefore, it can be said nestle is providing more dividend to shareholders in comparison to Caring Pharmacy. Payout Ratio: It provides a comparison of the dividend paid out by a company in proportion to the total net income realized. The payout ratio for both the companies has been decreased from 2016 to 0217 which indicates that their ability to payout the dividend in comparison to the net income has decreased significantly (Bromwich and Bhimani, 2005). Valuation Technique to estimate the fair value of firms The discounted cash flow method is the best method to value the target firm offer price. The most appropriate free cash flow (FCF) used in this calculation is cash flow after the capital expenditures that is important for ongoing concern. In this method there is required to estimate the free cash flows using the pro forma financial statements. The main purpose of using DCF method is it allows changes in cash flow in future time period. The cash flow is purely based on future cash flows. So it can be said that DCF is best method to estimate the offer price of target firms. Recommendations Based on overall calculations it is advised to the 18x hotel to acquire the Caring Pharmacy as their target company because it has better profitability, highly efficient asset management as compare to Nestle Group and very liquidity performance in both the years (Lumby and Jones, 2007). Conclusion Merger and acquisition decision requires complete strategic and financial analysis of the target firm as well as acquirer firm so that best firm can be selected from the selected target companies. On the basis overall results and offer price, Caring Pharmacy has been suggested to 18x Hotel as best target company. References Annual Report 2017. Nestle Group. [Online]. Lord Byron Essay Example
Lord Byron Paper Kelsey May Mrs. Donaldson English 12, Period 1 10 November 2011 Comparisons of Lord Byronââ¬â¢s Poetry Lord Byron wrote poetry during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries when Romanticism flourished worldwide. Influences were far and wide for Byronââ¬â¢s poetry; from religious-biblical events to his beautiful female cousinââ¬â¢s marriage, he wrote about any subject matter he found interesting at that time. ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"The Destruction of the Sennacheribâ⬠are two of Byronââ¬â¢s poems that are well known in literature. She Walks in Beautyâ⬠caught the attention of many people as one of Byronââ¬â¢s best poems; it is considered to be a Hebrew melody written from a third person narrative point of view. ââ¬Å"The Destruction of Sennacheribâ⬠is also a Hebrew melody in which Byron replicated the measures taken by the Assyrian king Sennacherib to capture Jerusalem. Although these two poems are similar in their use of literary devices, they are vastly different in theme, tone, and context. Literary devices are used by Byron all throughout these two poems. He uses literary devices such as prepositional phrases, similes, and symbolism along with consonance and assonance to paint the vivid pictures he tries to portray. ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠begins with a simile comparing the women who is the subject of the poem to a cloudless night with bright stars. Together the lack of clouds and bright stars combine to symbolize the beauty of the womanââ¬â¢s talent to ââ¬Å"contain opposite forces within herâ⬠(Hacht 269). ââ¬Å"The Destruction of the Sennacheribâ⬠opens in a similar way, referencing to a Biblical battle in terms of good and evil. During the battle, the Assyrian king Sennacherib and his army act as the evil trying to defeat Israel which portrays good. Byron uses a simile to compare Sennacherib to a wolf invading Israel which Byron also uses simile to compare to a flock of sheep. Byron uses his ââ¬Å"word picturesâ⬠to create an incredibly amazing scene so that the destruction of Israel is more evident later in the poem (Napierkowski and Ruby 39). Symbolism is also one of Byronââ¬â¢s chosen literary devices in these two poems. The symbolism seen in these two poems heavily connects with is perspective of life as it is what he leans on to write his poetry (Kelsall 171). In ââ¬Å"The Destruction of Sennacheribâ⬠color plays a huge role in symbolism; green symbolizes the energy, life, and maybe even confidence of Assyrian troops. The color green, Brent Goodman says, ââ¬Å"usually reminds us of vitality, freshness, and life. â⬠A few lines later the color quickly fades from green color of spring to colors of the fall symbolizing the death brought upon Sennacherib along with the death of his horse and troops. The color sets a dull and lifeless scene for the rest of Byronââ¬â¢s poem. Eyes are often thought of as simply an attractive feature of a person, but in this sense Byron is saying eyes but meaning soul. As Anne Marie Hacht points out, ââ¬Å"in literature . . . the eyes reveal the heartâ⬠(269). Although ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"The Destruction of Sennacheribâ⬠are both works of Lord Byron, they are different in all sorts of ways; one being theme. The major theme of ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠is quite obviously beauty. In this poem he expresses this womanââ¬â¢s beauty so in depth it almost seems unfathomable. Byron compliments the lightness with darkness in order to compare the womanââ¬â¢s physical beauty and inner beauty (Hacht 270). Howard Needler says in his critique that ââ¬Å"ââ¬â¢Beautyâ⬠seems problematical from the poemââ¬â¢s opening line, where it literarily denotes an ambience that enfolds the motion of both night and the ladyâ⬠(19+). This statement takes note that the atmosphere of the poem is split between the beauty of the darkness and the beauty of the women. This issue leads to Kantââ¬â¢s statement in the Critique of Judgment: Two kinds of beauty, free beauty . . . r merely dependent beauty . . . . The first presupposes no concept of what the object ought to be; the second does presuppose such a concept and the perfection of the object in accordance therewith. The first is called the self-subsistent beauty of this or that thing; the second, as dependent upon a concept (conditioned beauty), is ascribed to objects which come under the concept of a part icular purpose. (Qtd. Needler 19+) Looking at the poem with this incite, the light and dark meeting is more of a self-subsistent beauty where the beauty of the woman is more conditioned beauty. Byron makes use of the dark/light comparison in order to try and articulate the beauty of the woman, making the beauty of the woman dependent upon the free beauty of the stars. The theme of death in ââ¬Å"The Destruction of the Sennacheribâ⬠is quite different than the eloquent theme of beauty in ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beauty. â⬠Death is the major theme in this poem for two reason; one being the fall of the Assyrian king and his troops and the second being the fall of pagan worship. The soldiers, the horse, and the king all die in respective order throughout the poem. The soldiers, listed first, seem to have the least affect on the poem with their deaths. Next the horse, stronger than any man, has a bit more of an affect as the poem zooms in as his desperate attempts to breathe as he dies. The death of the king had the most affect on his people because the death of him meant the death of paganism. The death of Sennacherib proves that the Christian God is far more powerful than any earthy king ever could be. Sennacherib dying did not only signify the death of the Assyrian king, it also signified the death of the Assyrian culture. A culture, as Mary K. Ruby and Marie Rose Napierkowski would say, ââ¬Å"that worshiped Baal, the beleaguered pagan god of the Old Testamentâ⬠(40). Yet this poem stands to be fiction because the Assyrian king Sennacherib was murdered by his own flesh and blood (Napierkowski and Ruby 40). ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"The Destruction of Sennacheribâ⬠differ in theme but they also differ in tone. The tone of ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠is one of serious nature; Byron is very passionate about this woman and all of her beauty. For this reason, ââ¬Å"She Walks in Beautyâ⬠does not have a tone that is extremely flamboyant. Byron focuses on the complexity of this woman as though she is multi-faceted; he is as infatuated with her inner beauty as he is with her physical beauty. Byron notes that ââ¬Å"One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless grace,â⬠meaning if this woman had one more or one less inquisitive characteristic her whole demeanor would not be that of this perfect being. This idea of ââ¬Å"nameless graceâ⬠is brought onto this woman from heaven, which goes along with the expression ââ¬Å"she is graced by beauty. â⬠(Hacht 270). The seriousness of this poem can be seen through Byronââ¬â¢s attempt to overstate the characteristics of this woman both physically and internally in order to create the image of a woman so amazing is the epitome of perfection (Hacht 272).

CONTROLLINGOF CANADIAN TIRE Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
CONTROLLINGOF CANADIAN TIRE - Term Paper Example l Oââ¬â¢Donnell (1995) says, ââ¬Å"Control is checking current performance against predetermined standards contained in the plans with a view to ensure adequate progress and performance.â⬠Controlling as part of the management ensures that the organization activities are carried out as planned and ensures that the resources are utilized effectively and efficiently while taking any corrective action so as to achieve the overall organizational goals. Furthermore, every person in the organization has an individual goal which mostly depends on the organizational performance so if the organization goal fails so is to the individuals. So to ensure that the individual goals are met, the overall organizational goals must be controlled for consistency. It also ensures that the organizational policies and rules are adhered to so as to improve the organizational trust, reputation, loyalty and growth from infancy to maturity. As McBride & Hugh (1997) puts it. ââ¬Å"The company-Hamilton Tire and Garage Limited-stocked a small inventory of repair and replacement goods, including tires batteries, automobile fluids. Although automobile Industry was still in its infancy, the Billesses believed surging automobile sales at the Time indicated a bright future for their time. Later that year, in fact, Toronto hosted its first ââ¬Å"Closed car show,â⬠in which windshield wipers, automatic starter and other new car part were introduced." (p.56) The control process in Canadian Tire is not cybernetic, one that is self contained in its performance monitoring and correction capabilities, but it does follow similar principles. That is, setting the objectives of the organization and standards that are feasible, taking measurement of the results and then comparing them with the set objectives or the standards and then takes appropriate action. As Mockler (1970) points out the essential elements of the control process in his definition of control, he says. ââ¬Å"Management control is a systematic

Emotions of a woman on the birth of a child Essay
Emotions of a woman on the birth of a child - Essay Example I didnââ¬â¢t like the frog-looking thing that the ultra-sound revealed, nor the pumpkin that my mother said was inside me, nor the stork stories of Hans Christian Andersen fairytales. I imagined instead that I had swallowed the moon and that it was growing and expanding, filling me with incredible light. First, it was a period of darkness when I couldnââ¬â¢t feel her at all, then a sickle-shaped crescent moon, then a big round full moon that made me waddle in the days, and toss and turn at nights, and crave Kentucky Fried Chicken at midnight and be repulsed by it when I got it.But now the white-hot light that shafted through me was not the gentle glow that Iââ¬â¢d felt for the past three months, but a tearing searing volcanic eruption of a life force that needed at all costs to be brought forth. I felt like a mountain that was being split asunder by a force greater than me, and I thought that I would die from the six-hour ordeal, like Rachel in the Bible story when she gave birth to Benjamin. But no, finally she released me from my womanââ¬â¢s curse of bearing children in pain (from eating the aching attractive but forbidden fruit). There was a sweltering silence, and in my groggy post-natal haze I heard a sharp short slap, then a wild wail that I couldnââ¬â¢t believe was human. When they put her in my arms I was spellbound. It was impossible that this was her: the moon-thing from my belly, the volcano that erupted from me, the werewolf that wailed at being brought into the world.... I stared at her in amazement. I didn't have enough eyes to look at her, her skin like Starbucks mocha that would eventually "brown" like Grandma's chocolate cake to look more like mine. I didn't have enough lips to kiss her soft skin that dented under my touch like a downy pillow. Not enough nostrils to inhale her smell -- so strange yet sweet -- a smell of new life. Nor enough hands to touch her incredibly smooth warm skin, to fight with her to unfold her tiny balls of hands that wound around anything it could catch. Seeing her for the first time was more beautiful than Shakespeare's "russet-clad" sunset, more thrilling than my first kiss. And there were many firsts that have dotted this past year like the occasional caramel-coated nut in an already delicious Nestle Drumstick cone: the first time she opened her eyes and revealed her dark brown eyes that she had sneakily kept hidden like an opal; her first smile, like a burst of sunlight peeping out from under a shadowy mountain; her first tear that terrified me and made me want to rip apart the invisible beast that hurt her like an enrage mother lion; the first time she held my hand and a shot of love ran from my womb, up my spine and through my heart. I am still looking forward to her first words, and hope they will be "Ma-ma", which will be like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony to my ears (strange but magnificently beautiful), and not to mention her first steps on chubby drumstick-like legs (I ate too much KFC when I was pregnant), her first cut knee, her first day of school, her first crush Looking at her now, a little brown leprechaun from my own body, with her impish toothless grin, her lovable moon face and scraggly weed-like hair that I don't know how I will ever comb, I'm

The History Of Cloud Computing Information Technology Essay
The History Of Cloud Computing Information Technology Essay Cloud Computing are data and applications that are accessible through servers around the world (Clouds), and it can be reached at any time, from any device without installing that specific application to your computer. Data management within cloud involves extreme parallelization and distribution of data. Its goals are to provide quickness in which applications are deployed, increase the technology, and lower costs, all while increasing business agility.à The different types of services including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS have been projected for cloud computing. But, consumers want effective and efficient security for their virtual machines. There is some cloud providers that offer security-as-a-service based on VM introspection that promise the best of both worlds: efficient centralization and effective protection. Since customers can move data and apps from one cloud to another, an effective solution requires learning what providers to work with and what they secure. This report will provide detailed understanding of cloud computing and its major security issues. This will include the history of Cloud Computing, the models, its characteristics, deployment models, applications, advantages and disadvantages, security issues and other concerns. Key Words Access Control Cloud Computing Cloud Security Delivery Models Deployment Models SPI This Report is organized the following: Chapter 1: Introductions Chapter 2: Defining Cloud Computing Chapter 3: Cloud Security Chapter 4: Conclusion/Future Research Introduction Clouds is a metaphor for the Internet, the term Cloud Computing for computation over the Internet. It allows users to access resources database and Internet applications from anywhere as long as needed without worrying about maintenance or management of real resources. In addition, the databases in the cloud are very dynamic and evolving. Cloud Computing is unlike grid computing, utility computing, or autonomic computing. In fact, it is a very independent platform in terms of computing. The best example of cloud computing if Google Apps where any application can be accessed using a browser and it can be deployed on thousands of computer through the internet. Most of the data is stored on local networks with servers that may be clustered and sharing storage. This approach has had time to be developed into stable architecture, and provide decent redundancy when deployed right. Pinal Dave. Introduction to Cloud Computing Published 10 Apr 2009 This new technology, cloud computing, requires the attention and it changes rapidly the direction of the technology. Whether it is Googles file system or Microsoft Azure, it is clear that cloud computing has arrived with much to learn. In dealing with the abstract concept of the cloud, it is easy to misunderstand the structure and function. Defining Cloud Computing What is Cloud Computing? Cloud computing is a type of computation over the Internet. It shares resources instead of using a software or hardware on a physical computer. Cloud computing can be software and infrastructure. And, it can improve collaboration, mobility, size and availability features. It also improves cost reduction by offering a centralized platform for use when needed, and the reduction of energy consumption. Unlike grid computing, cloud computing can be hosted externally, but also internally, especially for companies who have businesses around the world. Consumers will no longer have to download and install memory-hogging applications and software on their device and will instead have access to everything they need via the browser. With this model, most of the computing software will be rented on an as-needed basis rather than being bought as an expensive one-off purchase. what is cloud computing and how to use it. February 11, 2010 . There are many definitions that try to answer the clouds of todays point of view of developers, researchers, administrators, engineers and consumers. This report focuses on a definition that is specifically tailored to the unique perspectives of IT network and security professionals. 2.2. History of Cloud Computing Originally, Cloud Computing was an unclear term for a vague and distant future in which computing would occur in a few remote locations without the need for very much human intervention. Infinite computing resources would be available for every need at prices approaching zero. Certainly, users would not care about how the computers, their software, or the network functioned. The idea of an intergalactic computer network was introduced in the 60s by J.C.R. Licklider, who was responsible for enabling the development of ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) in 1969. His vision was for everyone on the globe to be interconnected and accessing programs and data at any site, from anywhere, explained Margaret Lewis, product marketing director at AMD. It is a vision that sounds a lot like what we are calling cloud computing. History of cloud computing Computer Weekly (2009). Computer scientist John McCarthy, who attributed the cloud concept, proposed the idea of computation being delivered as a public utility, similar to the service bureaus which date back to the 60s. Since the 60s, cloud computing has developed along a number of lines, with Web 2.0 being the most recent evolution. However, since the internet only started to offer significant bandwidth in the 90s, cloud computing for the masses has been something of a late developer. In the past, the computers were connected from a larger computer. It was a common technique in industry. The technique enabled you to configure the computer to talk to each other with specially designed protocols to balance the computational load across machines. As a user you didnt care about what CPU was running the program, and cluster management software ensured that the best CPU at that time was used to execute the code. In the early 1990s Ian Foster and Carl Kesselman came up with a new concept of The Grid. The analogy used was of the electricity grid where users could plug into the grid and use a metered utility service. If companies dont have their own powers stations, but rather access a third party electricity supply, why cant the same apply to computing resources? Plug into a grid of computers and pay for what you use. Cloud Expo: Article A Brief History of Cloud Computing: Is the Cloud There Yet? Paul Wallis August 22, 2008 One of the first milestones for cloud computing was the arrival of Salesforce.com in 1999, which pioneered the concept of delivering enterprise applications via a simple website. The services firm paved the way for both specialist and mainstream software firms to deliver applications over the internet. The next development was Amazon Web Services in 2002, which provided a suite of cloud-based services including storage, computation and even human intelligence through the Amazon Mechanical Turk. Then in 2006, Amazon launched its Elastic Compute cloud (EC2) as a commercial web service that allows small companies and individuals to rent computers on which to run their own computer applications. Amazon EC2/S3 was the first widely accessible cloud computing infrastructure service, said Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Brightcove, which provides its SaaS online video platform to UK TV stations and newspapers. A history of cloud computing Arifà Mohamedà Friday 27 March 2009 Another big milestone came in 2009, as Web 2.0 hit its stride, and Google and others started to offer browser-based enterprise applications, though services such as Google Apps. Today, many companies are setting up data centers, sometimes as an extension of their own needs, sometimes only to serve customers. Originally, the idea of these clouds was to provide power and storage capacity. Everything else will be taken up by the customer. Now providers offer many services depending on the consumer needs. Source: http://www.fuzeboxinc.com/Extras/Blog/ 2.3. SPI for Cloud Computing SPI. This abbreviation stands for the three major services in the cloud. Software-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service. Source: http://texdexter.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/figure-1-cloud-computing-architecture.jpg 2.4. Delivery Models Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)- Instead of wasting money on servers, software, hardware, racks..etc. the provider would resource the service. This will be on demand computing and whatever the amount is consumed that what the consumer will be charged. This service can be hosted or via VPS(virtual private servers) Major Infrastructure Vendors Below are companies that provide infrastructure services: Google (GOOG) Managed hosting, development environment International Business Machines (IBM) Managed hosting SAVVIS (SVVS) Managed hosting Terremark Worldwide (TMRK) Managed hosting Amazon.com (AMZN) Cloud storage Rackspace Hosting (RAX) Managed hosting cloud computing Cloud platform services (PaaS)- delivers a platform or a solution stack as a service. This makes the delivery of applications easier without the cost of hardware or software. Like Salesforce.coms, which lets subscribers access their applications over the cloud. Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have also allow the users access their applications from centralized servers. Software as a service (SaaS)- isà software in the cloud. This deployment model is absolutely through the web browser. This eliminates the installation of applications on the consumers computer making it easy to access as simplifying maintenance and support. Characteristic of SaaS: Availability via a web browser on demand availability payment terms based on usage minimal IT demands 2.5. Deployment Models Private cloud- This is used only for organizations. Can be managed by the organization or to third parties and can exist on premise or off premise. Community cloud- This is used by many organizations working together, and is compatible with a particular community, which shared the concerns (eg, mission, security requirements, policy and compliance). It can be managed by organizations or third parties and can exist on premise or off premise. Public cloud- This is owned by cloud providers and is used by a larger organization or the general public. Hybrid cloud- Cloud Infrastructure is composed of two or more clouds (private, community or the public), that remain unique entities, but are caused by a standardized or proprietary technology that enables data and applications. 2.6. Essential Characteristics What is Cloud Computing? On-demand self-service- A consumer can unilaterally provision computing capabilities, such as server time and network storage, as needed automatically without requiring human interaction with each services provider. Broad network access- Capabilities are available over the network and accessed through standard mechanisms that promote use by heterogeneous thin or thick client platforms (e.g., mobile phones, laptops, and PDAs). Resource pooling- The providers computing resources are pooled to serve multiple consumers using a multi-tenant model, with different physical and virtual resources dynamically assigned and reassigned according to consumer demand. There is a sense of location independence in that, the customer generally has no control or knowledge over the exact location of the provided resources but may be able to specify location at a higher level of abstraction (e.g., country, state, or datacenter). This includes storage, processing, memory, network bandwidth, and virtual machines. Rapid elasticity- Capabilities can be rapidly and elastically provisioned, in some cases automatically, to quickly scale out and rapidly released to quickly scale in. To the consumer, the capabilities available for provisioning often appear to be unlimited and can be purchased in any quantity at any time. Measured Service- Cloud systems automatically control and optimize resource use by leveraging a metering capability at some level of abstraction appropriate to the type of service (e.g., storage, processing, bandwidth, and active user accounts). Resource usage can be monitored, controlled, and reported providing transparency for both the provider and consumer of the utilized service. Source: www.katescomment.com/images/CloudCube.png Cloud Security 3.1. Pros and Cons The main question is whether users are prepared to use the service from your local computer and are moving into the cloud because cloud computing has advantages and disadvantages to all potential users, but may have different meanings for different users. Pros Reduced Cost: Cloud technology is paid incrementally (you pay only for what you need), saving organizations money in the short run. Money saved can be used for other important resources. Increased Storage: Companies can save more data than on servers. Highly Automated: IT staff not needed to keep software up to date as maintenance is the job of the service provider on the cloud. More Mobility: Employees can access information wherever they are. Allows IT to Shift Focus: No longer having to worry about constant server updates and other computing issues, government organizations will be free to concentrate on innovation. Cons Security: standards depending on company and global location Reliance on 3rd Party: Control over own data is lost in the hands of an difficult-to-trust provider Cost of transition: Is it feasible for me to move from the existing architecture of my data center to the architecture of the cloud? Uncertainty of benefits: Are there any long term benefits? Today, customers are looking expand their on-premises infrastructure, but cannot afford the risk of compromising the security of their applications and data. In this survey of IDC, security ranked first as the greatest challenge or issue in cloud computing. Source: IDC Enterprise Panel What is Cloud Security? Security in the cloud, is not different than security control. But, because of the cloud models for contractual services, business models and technologies are used to cloud services, cloud computing different risks of a traditional organization of IT solutions can have. Cloud Computing is to lose control and accountability at the same time, but operational responsibility lies with one or more other parties. Not all services are the same. This depends on the provider you choose. This picture below illustrates the issue in SaaS where the contracts are negotiable; service levels, privacy, and compliance are all issues to be dealt with legally in contracts. In an IaaS, the remainder of the stack is the responsibility of the costumer. PaaS offers a balance in between, where the provider is in charge of securing the platform, but securing the application developed against the platform and developing them securely, both belong to the consumer. Source: http://www.rationalsurvivability.com/blog/wp-content/media/2009/07/CloudRefModel.html The technology has many advantages for employers. It is a simple solution that is cost effective, and can be updated easily and as quickly as the business grows, especially during peak sales. Many entrepreneurs do not do their homework when registering with a provider of cloud, and neglect to ask whether sensitive data can be isolated or not, or what layers of security is available. Cloud Security Top Threats According to CSA (Cloud Security Alliance) The report, titled Top Threats to Cloud Computing V1.0, These are the following threats in cloud computing: Abuse and Nefarious use of Cloud Computing: Attackers can find a way to upload malware to thousands of computers and use the power of the cloud infrastructure to attack other machines.à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¨Ã ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¨ Insecure Application Programming Interfaces: The reuse and combination of existing code to rapidly build applications often sacrifices quality assurance for agility and quick turnaround, resulting in insecure APIs. Malicious Insiders: One that gains in importance as many providers still dont reveal how the hire people, how they grant them access to assets or how they monitor them. Transparency is, in this case, vital to a secure cloud offering, along with compliance reporting and breach notification. Shared Technology Vulnerabilities: Sharing infrastructure is a way of life for IaaS providers. Unfortunately, the components on which this infrastructure is based were not designed for that. To ensure that customers dont thread on each others territory, monitoring and strong compartmentalization is required, not to mention scanning for and patching of vulnerabilities that might jeopardize this coexistence. Data Lose/Leakage: Using security control to protect the inside data in a company. This control is hard to apply to new environment. There is a lack of having the ability to monitor and control what is going on. Accounting, Services and Traffic Hijacking: The cloud is vulnerable to hacking. Like being redirected to malicious sites. Unknown risk profile: The customer are not well informed on where their applications are being reside, nor the configurations of the systems. Access Control in the Cloud In a traditional network, access control focuses on protecting from unauthorized users based on host-based attributes. Which sometimes is inadequate, this can cause inaccurate accounting. In the cloud, the access control works as a cloud firewall policy. This is by using rules using TCP/IP parameters, including the source of IP, the source port, the IP destination and the port destination. Unlike the network-based access control, the access should be strongly focused in the cloud by binding the users identity to the resource in the cloud and will help protect access control, data protection and users accounts. ISO/IEC 27002 has defined six access control objectives that cover end user, privileged user, network, application, and information access control. The objective is to ensure that the authorized user have access the right information and unauthorized users are prevented from accessing the systems. A procedure should take place and should cover all stages in the lifecycle of the user access, staring from the registration of the new user to the final step which is denying the user who will no longer need to access the information in the system. The following are the six control statements: à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Control access to information. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Manage user access rights. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Encourage good access practices. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Control access to network services. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Control access to operating systems. à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¢ Control access to applications and systems. The reasons for this six control statements from the view of IT security, is providing access to information and applications to authorized users. The objective of this task is to provide the right users the right services, while preventing access to unauthorized users. Conclusion/Future Research 4.1. Conclusion Cloud computing is increasingly popular. Industry leaders like Microsoft, Google and IBM, have been promoting cloud computing and have gain a lot of costumer. But the rest of the public that are still doing research on the topic are still doubting and afraid to migrate to the cloud. There are still many questions left without any answer and the most important one is security. On the other hand, Cloud Computing is the most amazing technology that has happened recently. It is easy to use, cheaper, faster, and convenient. The question is whether the users are ready to move and if so, what providers to move to. Security technology must be developed specifically for the protection of the business in the cloud. The technology has changed and security needs to keep up with it. Future Work According to btsecurethinking.com, Breach Security is working with partners, such as Akamai, to provide web application security in the cloud. Example, when deployed with Akamais Web Application Firewall service, Breachs WebDefend Global Event Manager is the first web application security management solution to defend against global application security threats by enabling customers to make distributed cloud and data center defense-in-depth architectures operational. CSA and HP are still doing research on top threats and intended to alert businesses to current and future cloud computing risks.

A slave’s diary
Day 1 The worst possible has happened I have had my home stricken from me by a white skinned demon and am now delimited to a water bound hell. Each lapping wave from the tempestuous sea that carries us to our unknown destination takes a small part of my resolve in its wake. I am fettered to a long pole and my movements are restricted by a chain which runs through the various binds of my neighbours. Once the white men took one of our number out of this place, although I think that it is not out of any form of kindness as he came back pained the smell of burning flesh following close behind. I sit here next to members of the mugimbi tribe and as such there is not much for conversation; the chafing of my binds burns me just as many a question burns my mind. What is this place? Why are we here? Is this hell? Am I dead? I hope that the answers will come to me before long because I sense that I will not be leaving this place soon. Day 12 I am still locked in this place. It has become difficult to distinguish night from day, to distinguish the smell of decay emitting from the first of our number to pass away, mostly children, and the smell of our own excrement. But it is not the smell that bothers me it is the cacophony of children's screams and women's cries, this is inhuman! These white men must come from hell. It has become unbearable. If I do not leave this place soon then I shall truly lose what little sanity I have been able to rescue from the abominable power of the waves. I have yet to be taken out and burned by the hand of the white demon, it is happening more frequently now, as if they do this to us in order to pass the time. Monsters. Recently I have found a form of salvation. It was so obvious I cannot believe it took me up to this point to realise it. We could call upon the Gods through tribe song. Prayers must not have been heard but when we sing I can feel the power of the Gods flow through me once more . Day 34 I do not believe we will ever leave this place. The white demons must be waiting until we are all dead. Just under a quarter of us have surrendered to eternal sleep ceasing their cries and escaping this nightmare. It must only be a matter of time before I too contribute the putrid atmosphere. It has improved a little though, I truly believe there is an angel amongst the demons, although he too speaks in tongues he seems to have the capacity for mercy, he washed us out and removed the liquid remains of those who had passed on, he even gave me some more food. Perhaps these men are not demonic but simply misguided? Fear has left me now, as if it was flowing through my veins for so long that I no longer had the power to hold it so that it seeped out the pores. Also we have created a worship dance that is possible considering our current restricted movement, the limbo. We sing and clap and try to lower ourselves below the bar that binds us, it is almost symbolic. The white men do not like it when we do this they seem to wish to stop any sort of bonding between us. Perhaps this is to prevent us from overpowering them, however if we are so bound I cannot think of how we could do so unless of course we are one day to be relased! Day 42 I was taken above today. It was the first time I had seen the sky in far too long, my limbs were sore and weakened from the restriction of movement and lack of exercise. I did not realise what they wanted me to do but I think that they were just doing it for their own enjoyment. How one could be so inhuman I do not know, they brought the fury of their tarred leather whip upon me. Slashing at my flesh, removing the skin from my back until I convulsed with pain. They laughed. I did not mind so much that they turn their fury upon me but I cannot accept that they do this to women and children. I was thrown back down into the darkness, bound again onto the pole sitting in a pool of my own blood. Day 43 I feel myself slipping away now, my surroundings fading into insignificance, I accept death. I welcome it. Invite it. Darkness is consuming me, this will me my last entry, thank you for allowing me to collate my thoughts. adieu.

Discuss the role of the fool in ââ¬ÅKing Learââ¬Â Essay
In ââ¬ËKing Learââ¬â¢, the Fool is a character of dramatic importance in the play. The Fool helps the reader, and in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s time would help the audience, to understand what lies beneath the surface of certain actions or verses. He equally strives to make Lear ââ¬Ëseeââ¬â¢. The Fool may be a very intriguing character and very often a complicated one but his role is necessary in ââ¬ËKing Learââ¬â¢. The Fool plays three major roles; one of these roles is that of an ââ¬Ëinner-conscienceââ¬â¢ of Lear. The Fool provides basic wisdom and reasoning for the King at much needed times. The Fool also works as amusement for Lear in times of sadness; often making Lear laugh at himself! He is one of the only people besides the Duke of Kent and Cordelia who are willing to stand up to the King. Right from the very first appearance we realize that he is a very ironic character and that he makes fun of Kent as well as of the situation. With his sarcastic remarks and phrases he is simply telling Kent, ââ¬Å"..thou must needs wear my coxcomb,â⬠telling him that he is a Fool for; ââ¬Å"â⬠¦taking oneââ¬â¢s part thatââ¬â¢s out of favour,â⬠because Lear has given everything away and is not worth following. The role of he Fool is to help Lear ââ¬Å"â⬠¦see betterâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ , making him aware of what his daughters really are and trying to make him understand how wrong his deed of giving them everything was. He acts like Learââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëinner-conscienceââ¬â¢ and does this in the best of ways by being a ââ¬Å"â⬠¦bitter foolâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ because the truth hurts; ââ¬Å"Thou hadst little wit in thy bald crown when thou gavââ¬â¢st thy golden one awayâ⬠. (Act 1 Scene 4) He is straight forward and direct, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦I had rather be any kind oââ¬â¢thing than a fool, and yet I would not be thee, nuncle.â⬠(Act 1 Scene 4) The Fool is surely the wisest of the two, ââ¬Å"Thou shouldst not have been old till thou hadst been wise,â⬠but in his own way he is a fool too, for standing by Lear through this because Lear is, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦an O without a figureâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ he is, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦nothingâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ . The directness of his words also foretells what is to happen to Lear. He is always trying to make him see things the way theyà are in an extremely wise way, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦but for all this thou shalt have as many dolours for thy daughtersâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (Act 2 Scene 4) The Fool heightens the image of ââ¬Å"nothingâ⬠in ââ¬ËKing Learââ¬â¢, taunting the King himself with his hurtful words; this is the wise-ness of the Fool The Fool and Lear share a close relationship in the play, contrary to the many relationships that turn sour. The Fool stays loyal to Lear even through his madness. In Act 3 Scene 2 the Fools role becomes one of a commentator in his soliloquy; he taunts Lear and prophesies on events that will unfold. From this point on the prominence of his role starts to lessen as Lear meets Poor Tom and now gives him most of his attention. He still sticks to his wise sarcasm and joins in Learââ¬â¢s mock-trial along with Poor Tom in Act 3 Scene 6. This is the last time we see the Fool, were his exit very appropriately portrays the state of affairs of the play at this point ââ¬Å"And Iââ¬â¢ll go to bed at noon.â⬠ââ¬â insinuating that everything is upside down and in chaos. After having read ââ¬ËKing Learââ¬â¢, one may notice that the Fool and Cordelia never participate in the same scene; therefore there have been suggestions that Cordelia may have been the Fool in disguise, but there has never been any concrete proof to prove this theory. The name Fool means nothing. He is the most intelligent and insightful character in the play and provides simple and clear reasoning for a King with limited vision. The Fool is loyal to the bitter end and provides the little bits of humour, much needed in this play; he has honesty and integrity that is found in only a few other characters in this play.

Why Dont Young People Read the News
Why are young people not interested in the news? Mark Bauerlein thinks he knows. Bauerlein is an Emory University English professor and author of the book The Dumbest Generation. This provocatively titled tome charts how young people arent interested in reading or learning period, whether its to scan news headlines or to crack open The Canterbury Tales. Statistics Show a Lack of Knowledge Bauerleins argument is borne out by statistics, and the numbers are grim. A Pew Research Center survey found that people age 18-34 are consistently less knowledgeable about current events than their elders. On a current events quiz, young adults averaged 5.9 correct answers out of 12 questions, fewer than the averages for Americans ages 35 to 49 (7.8) and above age 50 (8.4). The survey found that the knowledge gap was widest on foreign affairs. Only about half (52 percent) of those younger than 35 knew that Pakistan and Afghanistan share a border, compared with 71 percent of those ages 35 to 49, and 80 percent of those 50 and older. Distracted by Social Media Bauerlein says young people are in the thrall of Facebook, texting and other digital distractions that keep them from learning about anything more meaningful than, say, who went with whom to the school dance. What do 15-year-olds care about? They care about what all the other 15-year-olds are doing, Bauerlein says. Anything that puts them in touch with one another theyre going to use. Now when little Billy acts up and his parents say go to your room, Billy goes to his room and hes got the laptop, the video game console, everything. Kids can conduct their social life anywhere, he adds. And when it comes to the news, Who cares about some guys over in England jockeying over whos going to run the government there when kids can talk about what happened at the party last weekend? Bauerlein hastens to add that hes not a Luddite. But he says the digital age has changed something fundamental about the family structure, and the result is that young people are less closely under the guidance of adults than ever before. Now they can tune out adult voices all the way through adolescence, he says. This has never happened before in human history. Left unchecked, these developments could result in a new age dark of ignorance, Bauerlein warns, or as a blurb for his book puts it, Sacrificing our future to the least curious and intellectual generation in national history. How to Encourage Interest in the News Change must come from parents and teachers, Bauerlein says. Parents have to learn to be more vigilant, he says. Its amazing how many parents dont even know their kids have a Facebook account. They dont know how intense the media environment is for a 13-year-old. You need to disconnect kids from each other for some critical hours of the day, he adds. You need a critical balance where you are exposing kids to realities that transcend their world. And if that doesnt work, Bauerlein advises trying self-interest. I give speeches to 18-year-old boys who dont read the paper and I say, Youre in college and just met the girl of your dreams. She takes you home to meet her parents. Over the dinner table, her father says something about Ronald Reagan, and you dont know who he was. Guess what? You just went down in their estimation and probably in your girlfriends estimation as well. Is that what you want? Bauerlein tells students that reading the paper gives you more breadth of knowledge. it means you can say something about the First Amendment. It means you know what the Supreme Courtà is. I tell them, If you dont read the paper youre less of a citizen. If you dont read a paper youre not a good American. Source Bauerlein, Mark. The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future (Or, Dont Trust Anyone Under 30). Paperback, First Edition edition, TarcherPerigee, May 14, 2009.
